Generational Differences Between X, Y and Z.

I see videos all the time on tiktok and other apps about the differences in the generations. Currently we have four different generations living, working, mingling and managing life daily. All of these have some huge differences that are often misunderstood by the others due to the age gap and differences in how society sees things morally, ideology and thought process. I am a proud Gen X raised by two awesome baby boomer parents. I learned that family, friends, faith, hard work, competition, and going hard was the way to live life. I now see myself actually at times realizing that because I grew up that way I find it harder to understand and feel sorry for the now generation. I am not a gamer, social justice warrior, open to everything type of person like may are now. Let me clarify, I am not against all that, just do not want it shoved down my throat.

I grew up with all kinds of races. I went to school and played with anyone in the neighborhood. I got shot by bb guns, pellet guns, hit with sticks, fell out of trees, drank from a water hose, worked with my dad on cars, fought my buddies, played tackle football in the yard, played in the woods, stayed outside all day summer or winter, rode by for miles, slid down 150 degree slides in august, and all kinds of things that made Gen X tough. We grew up with working parents and were latch key kids. We took care of ourselves and our parents held us accountable. We got our ass beat for being stupid. We got in trouble if we were bad kid or student. We were just at the beginning of most technology change. Now lets look at the differences I see in todays youth as along time teacher and coach. I will go on record to say that kids are not as tough as they used to be and at times are softer for sure.

Baby Boomers- The current older generation that was all about good morals, hard work, working long days, fixing things with your own hands, fighting in major wars for the country and always family driven men and women. Baby boomer dads were not always that nice and were tired and gruff at times. But they loved their wife and family and would do anything to take care and support them. This generation is aging out and it is sad to see the world losing all these fine people that helped make America what is was.

Generation X- We were raised by Baby Boomers and I talked about the way we grew up above. We are aged, seasoned, tough and most of us lost our GAF attitude long ago. We really don’t care that your feelings are hurt. We really don’t care about all the crap on the news that is ruining America. We like other people, we don’t push out beliefs and ideals on other. We just work our ass off, take care of the family and friends. We enjoy life the best we can and try to keep up with all the technology of today.

Millineals (Y)- These are now well into the adult age and many have kids of their own or some grown kids. They were the technology crew that saw all the changes with phones, internet and what began as the beginning of softness in society. They like to work but want more time off. They were raised by Gen X and some Baby Boomer grands. They learned good values, love for country and family.

Gen Z- They want independence, more freedoms, more government assistance, love to play video games and are way too involved in politics and ideology. They want to force their opinions views on everyone else and get upset if it does not go their way. They are addicted to technology, phones, computers and want to work remotely. They want to make money without working hard or putting time into a job. Keep in mind it is not all Z because I see some with very traditional values.

With all this said, I wish we could see a mix of all these in our more modern kids and young adults. It is ok to want more, want to work less, make more money and have excellent life styles. But with that comes some old school Gen X values of hard work, faith, family and friends. The new generation needs to get over themselves and manage their lives. Learn from each other, each generation and make America better than you found it. Not by pushing everything on society, but by being a productive member that makes a difference. Keep your emotions in check, take a chill pill and stop learning your values from liberal college professors and crazy people.
